The Bank of Greece reported provisional data showing that the travel services surplus increased to EUR 11.24 billion in January to July 2026 from EUR 10.09 billion a year earlier. Travel receipts rose 12% to EUR 13.52 billion, supported by an 8.6% increase in inbound travellers and a 2.9% rise in average expenditure per trip. Net travel receipts offset 62.1% of the goods deficit and accounted for 90.3% of total net services receipts. In July alone, the travel surplus widened to EUR 4.31 billion from EUR 4.07 billion. Receipts grew 7.2% to EUR 4.72 billion despite a 3.1% decline in inbound travellers, reflecting a 10% increase in average expenditure per trip. Receipts from non-EU countries rose 15.5%, led by a 49.5% increase from the United Kingdom, while receipts from EU residents increased 0.8%.
