The Central Bank of Algeria announced that Mouatassem Boudiaf has taken up his duties as interim governor, following his appointment by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on 4 January 2026. The bank said a handover ceremony was held at its headquarters on 4 January 2026 between Boudiaf and Salah Eddine Taleb in the presence of the institution’s senior officials. Before his appointment, Boudiaf served as vice-governor of the Central Bank of Algeria.

Mouatassem Boudiaf has assumed the role of interim governor of the Central Bank of Algeria following his appointment by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on 4 January 2026, succeeding Salah Eddine Taleb. Boudiaf previously served as vice-governor of the bank.
