The Malaysia Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia issued a security alert after receiving reports on 24 April 2025 of failed client logins or unauthorised access and trading activities executed via a limited number of clients’ online trading accounts. To reduce the risk of further unauthorised access or trading, all brokers were advised to immediately alert clients to reset passwords and login credentials, and to implement additional security controls including multi-factor authentication and stricter password policies. Regulators and brokers are working to determine the root cause and to implement any further necessary measures, and noted that the market will open as usual on 25 April 2025.
