The Central Bank of Cyprus has published updated aggregated data on non-performing loans in the Cyprus banking sector with a reference date of 31 March 2025. The sector’s non-performing loans (NPLs) ratio edged down to 6.1% from 6.2% at end-December 2024. The marginal improvement was attributed to repayments, positive movements in the categories of non-performing loans, write-offs and exchange rate fluctuations. The coverage ratio of NPEs with bad credit provisions rose to 60.5% from 59.9%, while total restructured loans stood at EUR 1.3 billion, of which EUR 0.7 billion remained included in NPEs.
