The Central Bank of Uruguay and the Ministry of Economy and Finance held the thirteenth meeting of the Sustainable Finance Roundtable, the first session of 2025, bringing together participants from the financial system, particularly banking, insurance and pension funds. The discussion centred on how institutions are implementing sustainability considerations, with a focus on environmental and climate dimensions. The meeting framed progress in sustainable finance around two linked channels: managing environmental and climate-related risks and opportunities within the financial sector, and mobilising capital towards sustainable products and investments. Participants also highlighted priority needs, including training on integrating climate risks and opportunities and developing innovative financial instruments to finance projects; the United Nations Development Programme outlined planned capacity-building support to be delivered through the Roundtable under a Green Climate Fund-financed Readiness project implemented with the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Central Bank of Uruguay.
