Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Khalid Humaidan highlighted the potential for digital assets to improve cross-border payments, support financial innovation and develop capital markets, while calling for robust regulatory frameworks to safeguard financial stability. Humaidan made the remarks as a lead discussant at a roundtable during a joint meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council finance ministers and central bank governors with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. The meeting focused on the region’s economic outlook, policy responses to geopolitical shocks, regional integration and cooperation between the IMF and GCC.
