The Central Bank of Slovenia announced that Governor Boštjan Vasle’s term of office has ended and that Deputy-Governor Primož Dolenc will take over the running of the central bank from 9 January until a new governor takes office. Under national legislation, Dolenc will assume leadership of both the central bank and its Governing Board. In line with the European Central Bank’s established practice and Rules of Procedure, the Central Bank of Slovenia representative will continue to be invited to meetings of the ECB’s Governing Council but will not have voting rights when monetary policy decisions are taken. The central bank called for the appointment of a new governor to be resolved as soon as possible, citing the importance of full involvement in monetary policy decision-making.
