The Securities and Exchange Board of India and the European Securities and Markets Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and information sharing concerning central counterparties regulated and supervised by the Indian regulator. The agreement replaces the authorities’ previous memorandum signed on June 21, 2017. The framework allows the European Securities and Markets Authority to rely on the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s regulatory and supervisory activities, subject to each authority’s laws and regulations and safeguards for European Union financial stability. It supports cross-border cooperation for international clearing activities.
