The Monetary Authority of Macao and the Legal and Judicial Training Center have completed a two-day training course on investment fund practice and its legal application, attended by about 190 participants from the legal and financial sectors and from public bodies. The program focused on how investment funds work in practice and how the relevant legal and supervisory regimes apply, with the aim of strengthening cross-disciplinary capabilities for fund formation and management, regulatory compliance and legal risk assessment. The course brought together representatives from the Monetary Authority of Macao, the Financial Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and experienced financial and legal practitioners from mainland China and Hong Kong. Topics covered fund principles, product design, operations and management practices, alongside the legal and supervisory frameworks for funds in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, using case studies to compare regulatory environments across the three jurisdictions and support work on cross-border matters. The authority also said that, since 2021, it and the Legal and Judicial Training Center have run continuing finance and law training in areas including the bond market and wealth management, reaching about 1,000 participants so far, and that further practice-oriented thematic training will be launched in line with market development needs.
