The Reserve Bank of India has brought forward the closing date for small finance banks to obtain cash reserve ratio and statutory liquidity ratio exemptions on specified fresh nonresident deposits, replacing Sept. 30, 2026, with Aug. 31, 2026. The amendment takes effect immediately and narrows the availability window for relief that also underpins related regulatory treatment of eligible nonresident deposit-backed lending. The revised cutoff applies to Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) deposits with tenors of three to five years mobilized from June 8, 2026, and Non-Resident (External) Rupee term deposits with tenors of at least three years mobilized from June 19, 2026. Renewed deposits remain included in the latter category.
