South African Reserve Bank releases updated catalogue of Quarterly Bulletin time series descriptions

The South African Reserve Bank published an updated Excel file setting out the descriptions of all available Quarterly Bulletin time series, including each series’ code, description, version description, frequency and unit of measure. The list spans monetary and financial statistics such as the South African Reserve Bank balance sheet (liabilities including notes and coin in circulation, deposits and capital and reserves, and assets including gold and foreign reserves, advances and investments), liquidity and operational items (including cash reserve contra accounts, resale agreements, the South African Multiple Option Settlement facility and foreign currency swap transactions), the Corporation for Public Deposits balance sheet, and banking institutions’ deposit liabilities by category. Most series in the extract are presented with frequency codes “J” and “M” and unit of measure “RMILL”, with some items flagged as “End of period”.
