The State Bank of Vietnam has signed an emulation covenant and a comprehensive cooperation agreement with five commercial banks, VietinBank, Vietcombank, BIDV, Agribank and MB, as part of the banking sector’s implementation of the national innovation and digital transformation drive and the “Bình dân học vụ số” digital skills programme. Conference contributions highlighted banks’ initiatives to expand digital banking uptake and customer guidance, develop integrated digital ecosystems, and strengthen organisational and operational digitisation. Examples included BIDV’s expansion of services on the BIDV Smartbanking platform serving more than 22 million customers, VietinBank’s establishment of digital transformation teams and new centres of excellence, VIB’s digitisation of internal policy management including AI-assisted legal text interpretation and automated policy review controls, and MB’s focus on information security and cybersecurity workforce capability models. Vietcombank also called for stronger policy support to scale digital banking inclusion, broader partnerships to spread the “Bình dân học vụ số” movement, and a sandbox mechanism to enable banks to test and improve products and services.
