The Reserve Bank of Australia released its balance sheet as at close of business on 25 February 2026, showing total assets and liabilities of AUD 368.2bn, down AUD 1.6bn over the week. The largest liability-side move was a AUD 16.1bn fall in Exchange Settlement balances, partly offset by a AUD 15.9bn rise in deposits excluding Exchange Settlement balances. On the asset side, gold and foreign exchange fell AUD 1.7bn to AUD 107.5bn, with the weekly decline mainly reflecting the Bank’s transactions in gold and foreign exchange, including under swaps, and foreign securities. Australian dollar investments rose AUD 0.5bn to AUD 258.0bn, with the increase mainly reflecting transactions in securities, while other assets fell AUD 0.4bn to AUD 2.7bn. Notes on issue edged down to AUD 107.5bn, other liabilities fell to AUD 11.3bn, and other reserves and current year earnings remained negative at -AUD 9.1bn.
