The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) signed a memorandum of understanding on 11 November 2025 to strengthen cooperation through information exchange, capacity building and data sharing. The MoU sets a framework for automated exchange of verified, first-hand data to support analytical, statistical and research uses, with the stated aim of improving evidence-based policy planning and the quality and timeliness of inputs to national economic assessments. Under the agreement, the two institutions will seek to share knowledge and mutually agreed datasets via digital platforms including application programming interfaces (APIs), as well as through traditional methods. Information sharing is intended to support each institution’s mandate in accordance with applicable laws, and PBS is expected to gain timelier access to higher-quality data to improve national accounts and business statistics.
