The Central Bank of Russia launched Coin Week, running from 7 to 19 April 2025 across Russia, enabling individuals to exchange coins for banknotes at banks and chain stores. Participating bank offices also allow customers to credit the exchanged amounts to their accounts. Participation has expanded fivefold in 2025, with over 34,000 stores and around 4,000 bank offices ready to accept coins from individuals without a fee. The central bank highlighted that the 2024 campaign, held twice, returned 75 million coins worth RUB 320 million into circulation, with collected coins weighing 366 tonnes, which it estimated would require more than five railway carriages to transport.
