The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan revoked the licence of FinansInvest Microfinance Organization LLP to carry out microfinance activity, under an order dated 10 January 2025 issued by the head of its Karaganda regional representative office. The decision cites the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Microfinance Activity, under which systematic non-compliance with the authorised body’s written instructions is grounds for licence revocation when it occurs three or more times within 12 consecutive calendar months. Within 30 calendar days of the revocation decision, the firm must either re-register by removing wording and abbreviations from its name that indicate it conducts microcredit activity, or decide to reorganise or liquidate. Clients with outstanding obligations under microcredit agreements remain liable for breaches of those obligations under the terms of their contracts.
