The Central Bank of the Philippines published updated remittance statistics showing cash remittances from Overseas Filipinos increased 3.2% year on year to USD 2.98bn in August 2025, reflecting higher inflows from both land-based and sea-based workers. Personal remittances, which include cash sent through banks and informal channels as well as remittances in kind, also rose 3.2% to USD 3.31bn. Land-based workers accounted for USD 2.35bn of August cash remittances (+3.0% year on year) and sea-based workers USD 626m (+3.8%). On a cumulative basis, January to August cash remittances rose 3.1% to USD 22.91bn, while year-to-date personal remittances increased 3.1% to USD 25.51bn; on a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, personal remittances were up 0.2%. The United States remained the top recorded source of cash remittances in January to August 2025, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia, with the central bank noting that routing practices through correspondent banks and money couriers can limit source-country disaggregation and may overstate the US share.
