Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services published complaint data for Tabasco covering January to April 2026, showing 1,826 cases, or 1.9% of complaints nationwide. The total was up 44.0% from a year earlier. Of concluded complaints, MXN 10.0 million was recovered in favor of users, and the overall rate of outcomes favorable to users was 61.5%. Most Tabasco complaints, 82.2%, were handled through electronic case management, while 9.5% related to improper debt collection practices. By sector, multiple banking accounted for 38.8% of complaints, followed by credit information companies at 36.7% and insurers at 14.3%. Within multiple banking, the main causes were unrecognized purchases, unrecognized account charges and unrecognized electronic transfers, which together represented 39.2% of complaints in the state. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans made up 60.9% of multiple banking complaints. Possible fraud was linked to 20.2% of all complaints, mainly involving unrecognized purchases and unrecognized account charges. Geographically, 46.3% of complaints came from users in Centro municipality, followed by Nacajuca at 7.7% and Cardenas at 5.7%. Women accounted for 41.7% of complainants and men for 58.3%. Among older adults, the most complained-about products were special credit reports, debit cards and credit cards.
