The European Banking Federation, together with other European employers' and business organisations, backed a joint statement opposing the legislative annex to the INL report "2026/2023 – Psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work." The statement argues that the annex is overly prescriptive and disproportionate, and calls on Members of the European Parliament to reject it and oppose further binding legislation in this area. While endorsing action to address mental health and psychosocial risks at work, the signatories said any policy response should be practical, proportionate and adaptable to different workplace realities across the European Union. They argued that the existing European regulatory framework is fit for purpose and supported a non-legislative approach that would remove the most problematic provisions while avoiding added administrative burden and legal uncertainty for employers.
