The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the cessation of insurance intermediation carried out through six websites offering insurance services without authorisation and has triggered their blocking by internet service providers operating in Italy. The blocking process is under way and may take a few days for technical reasons. The order covers the domains innovassi.it, rca.innovassi.it, rca.mcinsuranceita.eu, info.rcasicura.com, rca.allianzcostacalabrese.it and polizze.vivriassicura.eu, including the corresponding versions with “www”. The cessation orders are published on IVASS’s “Defend ourselves from scams” web section, and the total number of sites subject to such orders has reached 323 since IVASS began exercising its blocking power in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to treat online, phone and messaging-app offers with caution, especially for temporary motor third-party liability policies, and to verify that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised undertakings and intermediaries by checking the relevant IVASS registers and lists.
