The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published a reminder that the Stop-credit service, in use since June 2023, allows individuals in Kazakhstan to voluntarily prohibit themselves from taking loans from banks and microfinance organisations to help prevent credit being issued without the applicant’s consent. Once an individual submits an opt-out application via the e-Gov portal or e-Gov mobile app and signs it electronically, the restriction is automatically transmitted to credit bureaus. Financial institutions requesting a credit report can see the restriction and cannot extend the loan. The restriction remains in force indefinitely until the individual lifts it by submitting a new electronic application via e-Gov, and it does not apply to pawnshops or other organisations that do not use credit bureau data.

Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan reminds consumers how to use Stop-credit to self-ban bank and microfinance loans
The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of Kazakhstan reiterated that the Stop-credit service, operational since June 2023, allows individuals to block themselves from obtaining loans from banks and microfinance organizations. This restriction is processed through the e-Gov portal or app, visible to credit bureaus, and prevents unauthorized credit issuance. It remains until revoked by the individual and does not apply to pawnshops or entities not using credit bureau data.
