The Reserve Bank of Australia published its balance sheet at the close of business on Sept. 2, showing total assets and liabilities of AUD 357.899 billion, down AUD 1.053 billion over the week. Australian dollar investments fell AUD 1.502 billion to AUD 243.713 billion, mainly reflecting earnings and valuation changes, while gold and foreign exchange assets rose AUD 66 million to AUD 110.692 billion, primarily due to transactions. On the liabilities side, Exchange Settlement balances declined AUD 3.696 billion to AUD 169.961 billion, while other deposits increased AUD 3.871 billion to AUD 81.807 billion. Other reserves and current-year earnings decreased AUD 1.790 billion to negative AUD 14.266 billion.
