The Central Bank of Slovenia announced a gradual rollout of the instant payments system across the public sector with banks, savings banks and payment systems operator Bankart, extending the application of the Instant Payments Regulation. The Slovenian Pension and Disability Insurance Institute will use the system for pension payments for the first time on 29 May, with the overnight payment process unchanged and funds expected to reach beneficiaries' accounts from the early morning. Because pension payments involve a large volume of transactions, some funds may appear slightly later than usual in some accounts, although still on the same calendar day. The existing pension payment system will be discontinued at the end of September, and by then the Central Bank of Slovenia, banks, savings banks and Bankart d.o.o. plan to enable all domestic SEPA credit transfers to be executed through the instant payments system.
