The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force reported on a high-level meeting with the State of Palestine that reviewed progress in strengthening the national anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) system and priorities for the next phase. Discussions focused on implementing the National AML/CFT Strategy, which is based on updated national and sectoral risk assessments, and preparing for Palestine’s mutual evaluation. Palestinian authorities outlined work to develop legislation, improve coordination among national bodies, expand risk-based supervision and private-sector practices, and build AML/CFT capacity. The meeting also addressed economic pressures on the banking sector and the continuity of correspondent banking relationships, with both sides agreeing to maintain cooperation and coordination.
