The Hong Kong Monetary Authority published second quarter 2026 statistics for stored value facility (SVF) schemes, showing continued growth in accounts and transaction volumes but a year-on-year decline in transaction value. Accounts in use reached 90.38 million, up 1.8% from the previous quarter and 9.2% from a year earlier. About 2.2 billion transactions were recorded, representing increases of 0.3% quarter on quarter and 3.6% year on year. Transaction value totaled HKD 264.7 billion, up 0.1% from the previous quarter but down 7.4% year on year. Adding value accounted for HKD 107.2 billion and withdrawals for HKD 59.6 billion. Spending payments totaled HKD 81.5 billion across point-of-sale and online transactions, while person-to-person transfers reached HKD 16.4 billion. SVF deposits and float stood at HKD 21.8 billion, up 0.6% quarter on quarter and 7.3% year on year.
