The Luxembourg Insurance Commission published its insurance indicators for the second quarter of 2026, showing a 4.59% increase in total gross premiums to EUR 28.77 billion compared with the same period in 2025. Life premiums rose 10.93% to EUR 17.43 billion, while nonlife premiums fell 3.85% to EUR 11.35 billion. Life insurance growth covered both unit-linked products, up 8.57%, and guaranteed-return products, up 17.05%. The nonlife decline mainly reflected restructurings undertaken in 2025, including run-offs, portfolio transfers and redomiciliations. On a like-for-like basis, nonlife premiums increased 2.35%. Life insurers’ total technical provisions reached EUR 279.42 billion at the end of the quarter, up 13.51% year over year, with unit-linked products accounting for more than 80% of the total.
