The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation announced that the China Financial Certification Authority (CFCA) has become the first China-based qualified issuer in the verifiable Legal Entity Identifier (vLEI) ecosystem, enabling the use of vLEI credentials to digitally authenticate organizations and their authorised representatives. CFCA, established by the People’s Bank of China and approved by the National Information Security Administration, will use the vLEI, an ISO-standardized digitized organizational identity, to support automated authentication and verification. The capability is positioned as complementary to existing Chinese identity verification systems, with a focus on reducing fraud risks and strengthening compliance in sensitive transactions such as trade and payments.
