The National Bank of Georgia announced that a shared Nasdaq Calypso platform will be implemented for five leading commercial banks as part of a sector-wide treasury infrastructure upgrade. The common system, introduced with the support of the central bank and under the umbrella of the Georgia Financial Markets Treasuries Association, is intended to provide international-grade infrastructure covering the full trade lifecycle and to support further growth in the banking sector. The five participating banks are Bank of Georgia, TBC Bank, Liberty Bank, Terabank and Basisbank. The initiative is being delivered under the Georgia Financial Markets Development Program and coordinated by the Georgia Financial Markets Treasuries Association. The banks involved account for the largest share of assets in Georgia's commercial banking sector. The announcement links the project to rising demand for more complex treasury infrastructure as the sector has expanded, with total assets nearing USD 38 billion, and to the need to support securities and derivatives markets, enterprise-level risk management and tighter regulatory standards. It also highlights that a shared model is intended to reduce the cost and operational burden that individual banks would face if they implemented and maintained comparable infrastructure separately.
