The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that banks’ derivatives turnover totaled NTD 24,165.7 billion in July 2026, down 7.29% from the previous month, primarily because of lower interest rate swap and foreign exchange swap activity. Foreign exchange contracts represented 87.08% of turnover at NTD 21,043.0 billion, while interest rate contracts accounted for 11.72% at NTD 2,834.1 billion. Foreign exchange contract turnover fell 3.52% month over month, while interest rate contract turnover declined 27.87%. Contracts involving the New Taiwan dollar accounted for 41.69% of total activity, and domestic banks generated 73.33%. The five largest dealers by turnover were CTBC Bank, Bank SinoPac, Cathay United Bank, Taishin International Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, which together accounted for 40.00% of the market.
