The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili met Hiroyasu Tanigaki, chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, to review developments in Kosovo’s financial sector and reaffirm the parties’ commitment to deepen cooperation. The exchange covered recent reforms, progress in the legal and regulatory framework, and the financial sector’s stability and performance, alongside initiatives on financial inclusion, access to finance and financial education. Governor Ismaili also outlined the central bank’s mandate and institutional capacities, its cooperation with international financial institutions and regional and European supervisory authorities, and Kosovo’s progress on financial integration through its initiative to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and the instant payments project referred to as “TIPS Clone”, which were presented as steps bringing Kosovo closer to European financial infrastructure.
