The Group of Thirty (G30) announced a leadership succession, appointing Raghuram G. Rajan as Chair of the Group. Rajan will take over from Mark Carney, who served as Chair from January 2023 to January 2025. Rajan is the Katherine Dusak Miller Professor at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chair of the G30 Board of Trustees, thanked Carney for his tenure and said Rajan brings leadership experience across central banking, international finance, and academia; the G30 also noted its tradition of orderly succession among Chairs, including Shanmugaratnam (2017 to 2022) and Jean-Claude Trichet (2012 to 2017).
