The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that its deputy chair, Gulbahor Naziri, met in Tashkent with Timur Ishmetov, Chair of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to review ways to deepen cooperation between the two banking systems. Discussions focused on implementing existing signed regulatory and legal arrangements, including cooperation on supervision of payment services market participants and payment systems, and oversight of credit institutions. The agenda also covered expanding correspondent banking relationships, exchanging experience on financial inclusion strategy implementation and research, and strengthening cooperation between the national payment card systems to support mutual settlements in national currencies. The sides also discussed experience-sharing through bilateral consultations, study visits, seminars and other training events.
