The National Bank of Bulgaria has released informational video materials to familiarise the public with the design of euro coins featuring Bulgaria’s national side, which are to enter circulation from 1 January 2026, and has outlined how euro coin starter kits will be sold ahead of the changeover. Sales of the starter kits will begin on 1 December 2025. The National Bank of Bulgaria and Bulgarian Posts will sell starter kits only to individuals, while banks will sell them to businesses and individuals. The price is set at BGN 20 for individuals and BGN 200 for legal entities, with further details on the kit contents and sales conditions set out in Ordinance No. 46 of 31 July 2025 on the initial supply and resupply of euro banknotes, euro coins and euro coin starter kits. The central bank is also running train-the-trainer sessions on recognising euro banknotes and coins in line with European Central Bank standards for representatives of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria, Bulgarian Posts, the Modern Trade Association and the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The National Bank of Bulgaria released videos on euro coins featuring Bulgaria’s national side, circulating from 1 January 2026. Euro coin starter kits will be available from 1 December 2025, priced at BGN 20 for individuals and BGN 200 for businesses, sold through the National Bank, Bulgarian Posts, and banks. Train-the-trainer sessions are also being conducted to align with European Central Bank standards.
