The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has published its Quarterly Superannuation Performance and Quarterly MySuper Statistics reports for the December 2024 quarter, showing total superannuation assets of AUD 4,166.9 billion as at 31 December 2024. Total assets rose 2.1% over the quarter and 11.5% from December 2023, with APRA-regulated assets at AUD 2,916.6 billion. Across major segments, APRA reported self-managed super fund assets of AUD 1,017.8 billion, exempt public sector superannuation scheme assets of AUD 175.2 billion, and life office statutory fund assets of AUD 57.3 billion (balances shown as at 31 December 2024). For entities with more than six members, total contributions increased 14.8% to AUD 198.1 billion in the year to December 2024, comprising employer contributions of AUD 144.0 billion (+10.8%) and member contributions of AUD 54.1 billion (+26.7%). Benefit payments rose 12.0% to AUD 124.4 billion, driven by lump sum payments of AUD 68.2 billion (+7.8%) and pension payments of AUD 56.2 billion (+17.5%), while net contribution flows increased 17.5% to AUD 68.2 billion.
