The Uganda Capital Markets Authority highlighted a public education session at Makerere University Business School, held with the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Accounting Students Association of Makerere University Business School, to raise student awareness of investment opportunities in Uganda’s capital markets. The session focused on products including government bonds, corporate bonds and unit trusts, and on the role of capital markets in wealth creation and economic development. CMA officials used the engagement to encourage students to start investing early and make informed financial decisions, while representatives from Old Mutual Uganda, Britam Uganda, Corner Stone Asset Managers and the Uganda Securities Exchange provided practical explanations of market operations and key terminology. The event forms part of the authority’s broader investor education program under its FY2025/2026 to 2029/2030 strategic plan and is tied to its marking 30 years of market development and investor protection.
