The State Bank of Vietnam hosted a working meeting between Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh and World Bank Country Director Mariam J. Sherman to review cooperation priorities and the World Bank’s planned support for Vietnam, including policy advice, technical assistance and project financing. The State Bank of Vietnam highlighted the Prime Minister’s instructions to line ministries to coordinate closely with the World Bank and resolve outstanding technical issues to accelerate preparation of key official development assistance projects, and asked for continued World Bank support for projects prioritised for fiscal years 2027–2029. The meeting also covered ongoing reforms to streamline the legal framework for public investment and the management and use of external borrowing, including amendments to the Public Investment Law, Bidding Law, Decree No. 114/2021/ND-CP on ODA and concessional loans, and the State Budget Law. The two sides also reviewed prospective World Bank support to the State Bank of Vietnam, including a new technical assistance project being developed with the State Bank’s international cooperation department and relevant units, with the World Bank indicating support and committing to work with the central bank to complete the necessary procedures so the project can be implemented.
