The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) reported the arrest of three individuals in the West Midlands as part of an investigation into suspected unauthorised debt activities believed to have targeted vulnerable people facing repossession proceedings. With support from the National Crime Agency, the FCA searched two residential addresses, an office and a storage facility. The individuals were interviewed under caution and released on conditional bail, while enquiries continue. The FCA indicated it will release further details in due course and reiterated that carrying on regulated activity without authorisation, or falsely claiming to be authorised, is an offence under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.
