The Central Bank of Egypt said Gov. Hassan Abdalla met Central Bank of Tunisia Gov. Fathi Zouheir Nouri to discuss deeper bilateral cooperation between the two central banks. The meeting focused on expanding work under the memorandum of understanding signed in September 2024, including the exchange of expertise on financial stability and monetary policy. The two sides also reviewed key regional and international economic and financial developments and the efforts of both central banks to respond to current global and regional geopolitical challenges. The 2024 framework provides for workshops, training and other technical exchanges across a broad set of areas, including supervisory developments, exchange rate policy, payment and settlement systems, financial inclusion, cash and liquidity management, anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing, monetary operations, digitalization, information systems modernization and cybersecurity. The meeting concluded with agreement on continued coordination and consultation in the next phase.
