The China Securities Regulatory Commission has launched a public consultation on a revised disclosure content and format standard for periodic reports by publicly offered securities investment funds. The draft would consolidate the current separate rules for annual, semiannual and quarterly reports into a single standard, renamed the Standard No 2 on the Content and Format of Periodic Reports for Publicly Offered Securities Investment Funds, as part of efforts to strengthen transparency and protect fund holders. The draft contains 3 chapters and 36 articles. It would merge identical or similar disclosure items across annual, semiannual and quarterly reports, while also introducing report-specific requirements that reflect the different functions of each reporting cycle. It also simplifies and adjusts some disclosure requirements based on higher-level rules, industry practice and experience from mature overseas markets. In addition, it would authorize the Asset Management Association of China to develop extensible business reporting language, or XBRL, templates for disclosure activities under the standard. The China Securities Regulatory Commission said it will refine the draft after reviewing public feedback and then complete the relevant procedures before issuing and implementing the final standard.
