The Central Bank of Luxembourg reported that the country’s external financial assets increased by EUR 51 billion from the fourth quarter of 2025 to EUR 13.801 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. External liabilities rose by EUR 44 billion to EUR 13.772 trillion, leaving a net external position of EUR 29 billion. Direct investment assets and liabilities fell to EUR 5.207 trillion and EUR 3.700 trillion, respectively, due to capital withdrawals. Portfolio investment assets declined by EUR 18 billion to EUR 6.442 trillion, while Luxembourg securities held by nonresidents fell by EUR 14 billion to EUR 8.191 trillion as EUR 52 billion of transactions was outweighed by EUR 66 billion of negative price and exchange-rate effects. Other investment assets increased to EUR 1.730 trillion, and related liabilities rose by EUR 41 billion to EUR 1.471 trillion.
