Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited has warned that a fraudulent website is impersonating the organization through a purported “Buyer Online Protection” service for Faster Payment System transactions. The website falsely offers buyer refunds, unauthorized transaction reporting and transaction support and has no affiliation with the clearing operator. The organization does not provide FPS services directly to individual members of the public or ordinarily contact them proactively. It urged the public to remain alert to suspicious communications, protect personal information and report suspected fraud to the police.
