In a statement released through the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren said newly released data showed annual inflation had reached its highest level in more than three years. She said inflation was nearly double its level in April 2025, before President Donald Trump announced broad tariffs, and argued that his policies had pushed prices higher. Warren said families paid more in May for health care, food, gas and housing. She also criticized Trump for not signing a bipartisan bill that, in her account, would lower housing costs.
