The Central Bank of Luxembourg reported that the aggregate balance sheet of credit institutions increased by 1.71% in June 2026 to EUR 1.051 trillion, based on provisional data. The total was 6.76% higher than a year earlier, with the monthly increase on the asset side driven mainly by claims on other banks and deposit-taking institutions. Loans to nonbank customers rose by EUR 2.322 billion, or 1.91%, during June and by 7.02% over 12 months. Annual growth was led by a 17% increase in lending to other financial intermediaries, while lending to nonfinancial corporations fell by 2.40% and household mortgages rose by 1.96%. Resident nonbank deposits increased by EUR 8.645 billion, or 2.68%, during the month and by 6.41% year over year, supported mainly by deposits from other financial intermediaries. The net interbank position increased by EUR 4.216 billion to EUR 223.081 billion.
