The Bank of Mauritius announced that its Governor, Dr Priscilla Muthoora Thakoor, has been appointed Chairperson of the Governing Board of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM), succeeding Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Michael Cardoso. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, the IILM develops liquid Shari’ah-compliant financial instruments intended to support cross-border investment flows and provide Islamic financial institutions with highly rated liquidity instruments during periods of liquidity stress. Its membership includes central banks from Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Qatar, Türkiye and the UAE, alongside the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector.
