The Reserve Bank of India has issued revised instructions for banks’ monthly Comprehensive Single Return on non-resident deposits through the Centralised Information Management System Sankalan portal. The circular supersedes the 2013 instructions, reflects the reporting migration completed with March 2024 data and establishes a rationalized format for consolidated bank-level reporting under return code R012. Banks may submit returns through system-to-system integration, file upload or a screen-based web form. Screen-based submissions are limited to 2,000 records, while file upload and system-to-system reporting require an XML file prepared using the prescribed taxonomy. The revised framework also specifies maturity codes, record types and validation checks. Returns must be submitted by the 10th of the month following the reporting month.
