Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) published an update on its participation in the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Annual Conference, Annual General Meeting and committee meetings in Tirana, Albania, held 10–14 November 2025. The main institutional outcome highlighted was IAIS members approving amendments to the IAIS by-laws to restructure its main committees in line with the IAIS Strategic Plan 2025–2029. The changes establish three new committees, the Monitoring and Risk Assessment Committee, the Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee, and the Implementation Assessment Committee, to strengthen risk monitoring, supervision and assessment of members’ implementation of international standards. A key amendment requires the Standards and Supervisory Practices Committee to have a co-chair from emerging market and developing economies, alongside wider conference discussions on climate risk, artificial intelligence-related risk, alternative asset investment trends, asset-intensive reinsurance arrangements, natural catastrophe protection gaps and the role of insurance in societal resilience. OIC also discussed with IAIS executives potential collaboration with the World Bank on disaster risk management, including IAIS practical resources for emerging markets that are expected to be finalised early next year.
