The Central Bank of Russia has included in its register the methodology for calculating a set of exchange and over-the-counter wholesale price indices for petrol, diesel fuel, jet kerosene, fuel oil and liquefied petroleum gases. Developed by the Saint Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange, the methodology sets out how refined product price indices are calculated both nationwide and for specific production regions. The move is intended to expand use of the indices in the market and support confidence in pricing financial instruments linked to them. The methodology was approved by the interagency commission after discussion with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, other competent agencies and market participants. Some of the indices are already used by agencies and market participants, including as settlement prices for cash-settled futures contracts. The methodology and the arrangements for disclosing the results are available on the SPIMEX page.
