Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users reported that it handled 12,493 complaints in Jalisco from January through July 2026, an 11.4% increase from the previous year and 7.8% of the national total. Concluded cases recovered MXN 54.9 million for users, while 37.6% of complaints had outcomes favorable to users. Multiple banking institutions accounted for 69.2% of complaints, followed by insurers at 12% and unregulated multiple-purpose financial companies at 7.1%. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans were linked to 79.5% of complaints, while 34.2% of all cases involved possible fraud through unrecognized purchases or electronic transfers. Guadalajara residents submitted 27.6% of complaints, Zapopan residents 24.9% and Tlaquepaque residents 7.3%.
