The Bank of the Lao PDR participated in a high-level conference and meeting of deputy governors for financial stability and supervision in Manila on Aug. 11-12, 2026. Central banks and international experts examined risks from geopolitical fragmentation, climate change, disruptions to trade and cross-border investment, and technological developments including artificial intelligence and digital currencies. The SEACEN member meeting also discussed the center’s 2026-2030 strategy and its proposed 2027 training and research agenda, covering financial stability, supervision, climate risk, sustainable finance and payments. Participants considered the growth of nonbank financial institutions and potential improvements to supervisory mechanisms. The meeting’s outcomes will be presented to the SEACEN Executive Committee in Indonesia in October 2026, with the Bank of the Lao PDR due to participate.
