Bolivia's Ministry of Finance appointed Carlos Gonzalo Jáuregui Cisneros as Executive Director General of the Financial Investigations Unit (UIF), tasking him with restoring the agency’s technical focus to strengthen the fight against money laundering and improve the country’s financial intelligence standards. Minister of Economy and Public Finance José Gabriel Espinoza Yáñez set two immediate priorities for the UIF: rebuilding institutional integrity that he said had been eroded for political purposes, and meeting international norms and standards that had been deprioritised. Jáuregui pledged to work to remove Bolivia from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list and called on the private sector, including financial institutions and securities and insurance market participants, to support efforts to build a more reliable and robust financial system.
